- How do I start a book on Onceling?
- Browse the story gallery at /books, choose a template that fits the recipient's age, and click to create a new project. You can also start from the homepage or an example book.
- What photos do I need to upload?
- Onceling asks for specific photo angles needed to keep characters consistent across illustrations — typically a clear face photo of each person who appears in the book. You upload only what the template requires.
- What personal details do I enter?
- You enter the hero's name, age-appropriate interests, and any cast members the story needs. These details shape the plot, dialogue, and illustrations.
- What happens during generation?
- Onceling writes a personalized story and illustrates every page, keeping characters visually consistent using your photos as reference. Generation runs in the background; you can track progress on your project page.
- What is the free preview?
- The preview includes the cover illustration and the full story text. Use Show another page to unlock more interior scenes with generation tokens. It is generated at no charge so you can decide whether the story and artwork feel right before buying.
- How do I unlock the full book?
- From your project page, choose digital PDF or printed hardcover checkout. Payment starts (or confirms) full-book generation; the PDF becomes downloadable once every page is illustrated, and hardcover orders move to print at that point. If you already bought the digital edition, its price is credited toward a hardcover upgrade.
- How do I read or receive the finished book?
- Digital books download as a PDF from your orders page. Printed hardcovers are produced by Onceling's print partner and shipped to the address you provide at checkout.
- Can I edit pages after generation?
- Yes. Every account starts with a one-time allowance of 5 free generations — not renewed monthly — for retouching or re-imagining individual pages. Purchased generation packs add more if you need them.
- What's the difference between a preview and a generation?
- A preview is the free milestone that shows a book's cover illustration and full story text — you get 2 a month, plus occasional loyalty rewards. A generation is spent on illustration work after that: unlocking more preview pages, regenerating a page, re-rendering in-page text, or designing a new character look. They're separate pools.
