# How to edit and regenerate book pages on Onceling

On Onceling you can regenerate any page's illustration, optionally with a short change instruction, edit page text, and restore an earlier version from history. [Facing-page text](/guide/glossary#facing-page-text) edits are free; [in-page text](/guide/glossary#in-page-text) edits, regenerations, and cover or back-cover edits use one [generation](/guide/glossary#generation) from your account's allowance.

## Can I redo a page's illustration?

Yes. Open the page in your project and choose to regenerate it, optionally adding a short instruction describing the change. Onceling illustrates it fresh from the same photos and story text, using one [generation](/guide/glossary#generation).

## Does editing text always cost a generation?

Not always. On a facing-page-text book, editing interior text only re-typesets the PDF and is free. On an in-page-text book, the words are burned into the artwork, so saving new text re-renders the illustration and uses one [generation](/guide/glossary#generation). Cover and back-cover text always uses one generation, on either layout, because covers always carry their text in the image.

## Do I have to regenerate the page to change the words?

It depends on your book's layout. On an in-page book, yes — the words are part of the artwork, so saving new text has to re-render the page and uses 1 [generation](/guide/glossary#generation). On a facing-page book, no — edit the text as often as you like, completely free. If you're ever charged a generation for a [facing-page text](/guide/glossary#facing-page-text)-only edit, that's a mistake — email support@onceling.com.

## What's included for generations?

## Can I undo a regeneration I don't like?

Yes. Each page keeps its previous versions in a history panel, so you can compare and restore an earlier illustration.

## Will regenerating a page change other pages?

No. Regenerating or editing one page never affects the illustrations or text on any other page.

## Can I still edit after ordering a hardcover?

No. Once a [hardcover](/guide/glossary#hardcover) has been ordered, that project's text and illustrations are final. Start a new project to make further changes.
